FAQ

Q. is it safe to fly drones indoor or close to people?

A. The short answer is yes. The drones we use to fly indoors or close to people or other ‘soft’ targets are equipped with protection around the propellors. These so called ‘ducts’ make it relatively safe to fly around soft targets. We always make sure everybody is briefed about what to & not to do around our drones. In the event of a crash against a person (which has never happened before) damage would be minor!

Q. How does it all work?

A. The drones we use are called ‘FPV drones’. FPV stands for First Person View, this means the pilot wears virtual goggles during the flight so he can see exactly what the drone sees. There is also no single autonomous system helping the pilot to control the drone. We fly 100% manual. This makes it possible to fly very close to objects & people without too much danger. Tricks & other tight manoeuvres become much easier too when flying like this.

Q. what kind of camera’s do you use?

A. As of now we use the latest GoPro’s on all our setups. Right now that is the GoPro Hero 10 Black which can shoot up to 5.4K 30fps & 4K 60fps. For 90% of the jobs that is more than enough, but we are looking into investing in a cinelifter. That way we would be able to fly much higher quality camera’s like a RED Komodo or Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera!

Q. Why are you almost always with 2 people when you only need 1 to fly?

A. It simply is the law, when flying outdoor we are flying in public airspace and have to obey the laws that are in place. This means there always has to be visual contact with the drone. Because the FPV pilot can’t see the drone itself he needs an assistent that can keep an eye on the drone at all times! When we fly indoors & we know we have a 100% safe & controllable area to fly in we don’t always need two people on the job.

Q. why would i choose fpv drones above regular drones

A. This is a subjective question of course, but we prefer an FPV drone because it brings so much new possibilities & amazing perspectives to whatever project you’d like to work on! FYI we also provide regular drone services, we use a DJI Mavic 2 Po for this which can deliver content in 4K 30FPS log. If you are interested in regular drones over FPV drones don’t hesitate to email us for more information on what’s possible!

Q. Can you fly anywhere?

A. The short answer is: Overall, (in the EU) YES! The long answer consist of 3 parts:
1. As of now we are certified in the OPEN category A1, A2 & A3. This means we can fly in a lot of places without too much hassle & prepping. There are some areas where you need to ask permission 3 hours to 2 weeks before actually flying there, but it is possible! Of course there are also areas you simply can not fly (close to airports, military grounds, etc…)

2. There is also a ‘SPECIFIC’ category which makes it possible to get permission for ALMOST any drone operation, we are currently working hard to obtain a license to fly in this category & are planning on flying in SPECIFIC this summer!
Because the operations in SPECIFIC have a higher risk than in the OPEN category there is much more prepping needed to get the green light for these flights, so it is advised to contact us a few weeks before you actually want to fly so we can make all the right preparations!

3. To fly a drone indoor you don’t need any license because you are not in public airspace.
This means you don’t have to obey to the rules from outside. It does mean you have to make sure everything stays safe! When we fly inside above a crowd for instance, this always happens with an ultra light drone that doesn’t weigh more than 250 grams & an assistent that is in contact with the production, safety officials & drone operator at all times.
